Today arrive at Guwahati airport, received and then transferred to Tezpur (220 kms / 04 ½ hrs drive), reach Tezpur and check into hotel and overnight stay.
DAY 02: TEZPUR – RUPA – BOMDILA (ARUNACHAL PRADESH)
Today after breakfast we will drive to Rupa ( 4 ½ hrs drive) and then further to the Sang-Ngag Choekar Dargyeling Monastery is built on a promontory which offers spectacular 270 degree views of the surrounding Eastern Himalayan valleys. More commonly known as Chillipam Gompa, the secluded sanctuary is adorned with some of the region’s most magnificent Buddhist art.
We will spend some time there and interact with the Monks and know the history of the beautiful monastery and then we will proceed to Bomdila ( 02 hrs drive), on reaching Bomdila we will visit the Gentse Gaden Rabgyel Lling monastery, Bombdila monastery was built in 1965 by the twelfth incarnation of the TsonaGontse Rinpoche. And was rebuilt by the thirteenth reincarnation, TsonaGontseRinponche renovated the monastery by building a larger prayer hall. Inside the Gompa, there's a huge prayer, which is used by the lamas for praying; the temple of Buddha, and a tiny quarter of monks. Apart from its religious significance, the monastery is also known for its natural beauty. Stunning vistas that you can see from here are fabulous and breathtaking.
After the full days of excursion we will check into a hotel in Bomdila / also beautiful guest houses are there in Bomdila.
DAY 03: BOMDILA – DIRANG (ARUNACHAL PRADESH)
Today after breakfast we will drive to Dirang (02 hrs drive), on reaching Dirang first we will visit the DIRANG DZONG - It is home to the Monpa tribes and is significant because of the Dirang Dzong or Dirang fort. It was built in the 17th century to ward off invasions of the neighboring states. During Vietnam war, it war used as a jail. During world war, this fort was used as a shelter. Monpa tribes live in this fort now days, have a unique life style, said to have also have Vietnam descendants among the dzong dwellers.
We will check into hotel in Dirang and then we will proceed to Kalachakra Gompa - The Kalachakra Gompa is a 500 years old monastery that is placed in the upper part of Kalachakra.
After spending some time we will return back to Hotel and have our lunch, after lunch and refreshment we will visit Sangti Valley – a beautiful and must see place when you are in Dirang, visit a Monpa village and later evening return back to hotel. Overnight stay in Dirang.
DAY 04: DIRANG – TAWANG (ARUNACHAL PRADESH)
Today after breakfast we will proceed to Tawang ( 09 hrs journey including enroute sightseeing), after driving for 4 ½ hrs approx we will reach Sella Pass ( located at 13476 ft ), stop at Sela Pass for sometime and also visit the Sela Lake ( or Paradise Lake ) in Sela Pass, after spending some time we will proceed further and stop at Jaswant Ghar (This war memorial stands in memory of rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat, Mahavir Chakra Awardee (Posthumous) of the 4th Battalion of Garhwal Rifles Infantry Regiment. Jaswant showed his valor by fighting and holding the invading Chinese back for 72 hours all alone during the 1962 India-China war and remained at his post at an altitude of about 10,000 feet before succumbing to an enemy bullet during that bloody winter war. The post that he held to repulse the Chinese troops has been renamed Jaswant Garh in recognition of his valor and sacrifice), the next stoppage would be Nurarang Falls or Jung Falls ( please do note that in winter month the fall has very less water and also because of the Power Plant project of Nurarang), after spending some time of there also having a hot cup of tea and munches proceed for Tawang ( 02hrs drive from Jung), reach Tawang and check into your hotel, evening at leisure and overnight stay in Tawang.
DAY 05: TAWANG (ARUNACHAL PRADESH)
Today we will visit the Tawang Monastery - The Famous Gaden Namgyal Lhatse roughly translated as “The peak of the heavenly abode of joyfulness and complete victory” and, popularly known as the Tawang Monastery was founded by Merak Lama Lodre Gyatso in the year 1680-81. The monastery stands on the spur of a hill, about 10,000 feet above sea level having ravines in the south and west, a narrow ridge on the north and gradual slope on the east. The monastery apart from being is the fountain-head of the spiritual life of the people of this region is also the most important Socio-Cultural Institute having tremendous influence on the culture and day-to-day life of the inhabitants of the region.
We will also visit The Gyangong Ani Gompa, Bramadung Chung Ani Gompa, Khinmey Monastery and Urgelling Gompa. Evening back to hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 06: TAWANG (ARUNACHAL PRADESH)
Today we will drive to Zemithang (90 kms / 03 hrs drive) a beautiful drive along the foothills of Himalayas and stunning views. We will visit Gorzam Chorten and also Monpa villages, later we will drive back to Tawang, as there are no good eatery places we will take packed lunch with us. On reaching Tawang just relax in the hotel, evening go for a local shopping in Tawang market. Overnight stay in Tawang.
Gorzam Chorten - Zemithang is this unique and magnificent Stupa looming high into the sky. It is said to have been constructed in the thirteenth century by Lama Prathar who belonged to Kharman village of Zimithang. Towering at 93 feet with a base of about 186 feet,this Stupa is modeled after the Boudinath Stupa of Nepal,which is popularly known as Bayul Chorten. Legend has it that the sketched outline of the great Stupa of Boudhinath was carved on a radish and was brought all the way from Nepal to Zemithang as a reference, however due to the prolonged journey, the radish shrank and the model of the Stupa also got shriveled a little.As a result of the shrinkage the Gorsam Stupa,though a replica of its counterpart in Nepal, is slightly more flattened and less pointed on the top.
DAY 07: TAWANG – BOMDILA (ARUNACHAL PRADESH)
Today we will drive back to Bomdila (08 hrs drive), for an overnight stay.
DAY 08: BOMDILA – TEZPUR (ASSAM)
Today drive down to the plains and reach Tezpur (06 hrs drive), on reaching check into hotel and after lunch and refreshment we can visit few local sightseeing in and around Tezpur town. Evening at leisure and overnight stay in Tezpur.
DAY 09: TEZPUR – GUWAHATI
Today drive to Guwahati airport (05 hrs drive) for onward destination.
