Itinerary

DAY 01: GUWAHATI (ASSAM)

Today arrive at Guwahati airport and then after a warm welcome we will drive toward Guwahati city, on entering the city we will visit the most powerful temple in Assam – Kamakhya Temple, after visiting the temple we will drive to hotel and check in. Evening at leisure and overnight stay will be in Guwahati.

DAY 02: GUWAHATI – KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK (ASSAM)

Today after breakfast we will drive to Sualkuchi village – a silk weaving village of Assam (30 kms from Guwahati), where you will be shown the weaving process in the traditional loom by a local weaver in his house, after exploring for some more time we will head towards to Kaziranga National Park (05 hrs drive), on reaching Kaziranga we will check into hotel, evening will be at leisure, dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in Kaziranga.

DAY 03: KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK (ASSAM)

Today you will go for safaris and elephant ride inside the national park. Early morning go for an Elephant ride ( timing 5:00 AM/ 06:00 AM/ 7:00 AM) then return back to the lodge and after breakfast go for a Jeep Safari (timing  8:00 AM / 9:00 AM) for 03 hrs, after the safari come back to lodge. After lunch and refreshment go for another Jeep Safari in the Western/ Central range of the park (timing 2:00AM / 3:00 AM) for 02 ½ hrs ( also depending on the sunset as in winters the sun sets early in Northeast India), evening at leisure. Overnight stay will be in Kaziranga.

DAY 04: KAZIRANGA – MAJULI – JORHAT (ASSAM)

Today after breakfast drive to Majuli (03 hrs drive) to reach Nimati Ghat and 1.30hrs ferry to cross mighty river the Brahmaputra, reach Majuli and explore the Island and visit Vaishnavaites monasteries and enjoy a traditional Satriya dance show in Uttar Kamakalabari Satra, we will also visit the famous mask making monastery (Samuguri satra), later we will drive to Kamalabari Ghat and cross river Brahmaputra to reach Jorhat. Evening at leisure and overnight stay in a Tea Bungalow.

MAJULI - perhaps the largest river island is a treasure of cultural heritage of the region. The founder of ‘Eka Naam Dharma’ Srimanta Shankardeva took shelter in Majuli in the Fifteenth Century and ever since that Majuli has emerged as the crowning glory of Vaishnavaite culture in Assam. Majuli has a unique treasure of natural and cultural attractions. A melting point of various tribes, Majuli is multifaceted in its attractions that unfurls to its vanity are the rare migratory birds like Adjutant Stork, Pelican, Siberian Crane, etc., traditional handicrafts and pottery,  the Mask – craft, ethnic culture and colorful festivals.

DAY 05: JORHAT – KOHIMA (NAGALAND)

Today after an early breakfast drive to Kohima ( 06 hrs drive), on reaching Kohima we will go straight to the venue of the Hornbill festival, enjoy the day over there and lunch will be traditional in the venue, later we will drive back to Kohima and check into hotel. Overnight stay will be in Kohima.

DAY 06: KOHIMA (NAGALAND)

Today after breakfast we will drive to the venue of the Grand Hornbill festival, Kisema village (14 kms), explore the festival, there will be dances, songs and lots of performances by the native Naga belonging to different tribes. Enjoy the local cuisine, later drive to Kohima and overnight stay.

DAY 07: KOHIMA (NAGALAND)

Today after an early breakfast we will drive to Kigwema Village (a very historical village during WW11) explore the village and visit the traditional Angami Tribal house, later we will drive to the venue of the Hornbill festival, we will spend the full day in the venue visiting the traditional houses of all the tribes and also enjoy the different dance performances by the tribes,  enjoy local cuisine of the Naga tribes, later drive to Kohima own and check into hotel and overnight stay.

DAY 08: KOHIMA – DIMAPUR – FLY

Today after breakfast we will drive to Dimapur airport for onward destination.
